Ebay seller mr.customerservice2 from California had this plate for sale in July 2014. He appears to be a dealer in all sorts of anything so I am sure he had no idea what a real Rome plate of that period should look like.
I am no expert on Italian plates so I checked with an Italian plate expert who’s only comment was «complete fake». The font is slightly wrong, the letters RM are wrong, the official stamp is very strange, the raised circular area is missing and it is made of metal.
An outright fake and hopefully this is not one of many such fake Italian plates.
If anyone knows of any more of these Italian fakes or has seen any, please let me know.
