In September 2017 Ebay seller jbeerd from Moscow in Russia was trying to sell these replica Ethiopia, Peru, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Niger and Benin license plates. He has 5 copies of each plate with the same number. Do you really want a plate in your collection that you know is fake and that there are 4 other people with the same fake plate as you?
Plates from these countries are never mint like this and the African ones are usually in very bad condition. He has gone to a lot of trouble and expense to get the correct blanks with holograms and laser etched serial numbers.
The Ethiopia taxi plate is very close to the real thing, the Peru diplomatic plate has the holes all messed up and there is no watermark on the reflective sheeting, the Ghana dealer plate is very close to the real thing, the Cote D’Ivoire is on the wrong blank as they are always French blanks, the Niger plate is very close to the real thing and the Benin plate is also very close.
The big problem is going to come later when some of these plates get into the market. From a photo during a sale or trade it could be difficult to tell if the plate or plates are genuine or not.
This just makes everything difficult for everyone. Reproductions are very bad for the hobby and if you care about the future of the hobby, it is better you do not buy reproductions, especially poor quality ones like this seller makes.
