In late May 2015 Ebay seller teuresblech from Frankfurt in Germany had these two cast aluminium Arabic plates for sale.
He had many cast plates for sale at the same time and many look like poor quality repaints but are probably genuine. It is very difficult to say with any of them however.
These two plates do not appear to be genuine and look like reproductions.
The Syria 10220 (1950s-60s) is a problem because the one known genuine plate is not a red plate (public transport) but a black plate (private). The genuine one is from a very old collection and is 100% original and is a much better quality casting than this one. There are another two known reproductions (both private plates) that have been sold by German Ebayer schilderstadl.
The Afghanistan commercial (truck) plate 2770 is a problem because the one known genuine plate is from a very old collection and is 100% genuine. This one is a poor quality casting and is one of several reproductions including one very recently for sale by German Ebayer schilderstadl.
If you want to buy any cast aluminium plate always ask for a photo of the back of the plate. If you cannot see marks from where it has been used do not buy it. This goes for all of the cast plates that look like poor quality repaints from teuresblech also.
There are many cast aluminium reproductions around now so be very careful.
