204-Moscow garage numbers

To avoid any confusion amongst collectors, these ‘plates’ are not vehicle plates at all.
In most of the old Soviet Union, the garage of a particular house or apartment was separate from it and had a number painted on the door. In Moscow, there were actual plates made to be screwed on to the garage door to identify the owner and collect the taxes due.
The letters at the bottom indicate which area of Moscow it is in and, as you can see, there are several different designs.
