These are a set (or part of a set, I just don’t know) that if I had to guess, I would say were all made for an American collector by someone in the Middle East. They are all from different countries but have all been made on a very unusual and rare base that is approximately US car sized. These were all copied from photographs but the real plates are all sorts of different shapes and sizes. On the UAE CD plate the painter has even copied the strange angle that the original photograph was taken from!
These bases should only be found on old Kuwaiti plates and are very obvious because of their raised edges. I have photos of all the genuine plates if anyone needs to see them.
Various of these plates are in various collections and were no doubt bought as the real thing – dodgy copies is probably the best description of what they really are.
